Overcooked is free to claim on the Epic Games Store for this week
Epic Games Store is offering Overcooked for this week’s giveaway, replacing Last Day of June.
Overcooked originally released in 2016, developed by the two-person team at Ghost Town Games. It’s a local couch coop game designed to be played with friends, challenging them to work together and prepare food, as per the orders that drop for them, to the best of their abilities.
It comes with support for shared screen gameplay on PC as well as controller support. Overcooked was received favorably by players and critics alike at its launch, winning the BAFTA for ‘Family’ category in 2017. Here’s how the Epic Games Store describes the title:
Overcooked is a chaotic couch co-op cooking game for one to four players. Working as a team, you and your fellow chefs must prepare, cook and serve up a variety of tasty orders before the baying customers storm out in a huff. Sharpen your knives and dust off your chef’s whites, there isn’t mushroom for error and the steaks are high in these crazy kitchens!
Epic Games Store is offering the title at no cost for players on Windows. It’s worth noting, however, thatThe Lost Morsel DLC, adding new campaign levels, is available via Steam, where the game is discounted to $5.77. Here are the minimum requirements for the game:
OS: Windows 7 (32-bit)
Processor: Dual Core 2.4Ghz
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce 8800 GT / AMD HD 6850 / Intel HD Graphics 4400 or above (DirectX 11)
Storage: 750 MB available space
Additional Notes: Gamepad / Controller Recommended
It may also be worth noting that the 2018-released Overcooked 2 supports online coop in addition to local coop, and is discounted by 30% for the Steam Summer Sale for the moment. Overcooked 2 is also available for macOS and Linux.
