Microsoft has been putting a significant amount of effort into improving the connection between Windows 10 PCs and Android phones with the Your Phone app, and it seems like the company will be trying to promote the app to more users in the near future. According to a report by ZDNet’s Mary Jo Foley, Microsoft may be shipping the Your Phone Companion app with the upcoming Galaxy Note10 flagship.
The report further indicated that Microsoft will be making an appearance on stage during the Unpacked event where the Note10 will be announced. The Redmond company will be showing off its productivity apps such as the Office suite, in addition to, of course, Your Phone.
While the core functionality of the Your Phone will work on most Android phones, features such as screen mirroring are heavily skewed towards Samsung devices, so this partnership makes some sense. Microsoft would want to showcase the app on devices that fully support its capabilities.
Microsoft and Samsung have worked together in the past to some extent. Samsung phones are one of the few that Microsoft sells through its own store, and Microsoft even showed off some of its apps running on DeX, Samsung’s spiritual successor to Continuum, when it was first announced. It’s certainly reasonable that Microsoft will keep supporting Samsung’s vision for a device that can be used as a phone and a PC when needed.
