Former CIA Director John Brennan shredded Trump for his attacks on Admiral William McRaven, the organizer of the raid that killed Osama Bin Laden.
After Trump renewed his attack on McRaven, Brennan tweeted:
You constantly remind us how substantively shallow & dishonest you are on so many fronts, which is why we are in such dangerous times. You would need an extremely tall ladder to get anywhere near the level of intellect, competence & integrity of Bill McRaven & your predecessors. https://t.co/uW95ZALUZ7

Trump first attacked by falsely claiming that he is a Clinton supporter and an Obama backer, and then adding that Bin Laden should have been gotten sooner. McRaven responded by calling Trump the biggest threat to democracy in his lifetime and called out Trump for undermining freedom of the press and freedom of expression.
John Brennan has been a frequent Trump critic who got under the president’s skin so badly that Trump revoked his security clearance.
People like John Brennan, Willian McRaven, and those who have worked in many cases for decades to keep country safe are heroes. These are people who don’t get involved in partisan politics, have usually worked under both Democratic and Republican administrations. They are everything that Trump is currently at war with, and these people are fighting to protect the norms of democracy that Trump is attempting to undermine and destroy.
It is fundamentally un-American for Trump to be criticizing the man who organized the raid that led to the death of Osama Bin Laden, but it all part of Trump‘s petty campaign to diminish any positive event that occurred during the Obama administration. Trump is failing as president, so the only thing that he can do to try to make himself look better is to diminish the Obama years.
Democracy will survive the Trump years and flourish as long as people like John Brennan, and every other American continue to speak out.
