Fitbit Versa 2 retail boxes leak, confirm Alexa integration and more

Fitbit announced the Versa smartwatch back in 2018. The device was the second smartwatch from the company, followed by the Ionic and brought with it a more refined, non-squarish design. A cheaper version of the Versa, the Versa Lite was launched earlier this year alongside the Ace 2, Inspire, and Inspire HR. It now looks like the company is readying the release of the second-generation Versa if leaked retail boxes from an OLX Bulgaria listing are to be believed.

Based on earlier leaks by famous leaker Evan Blass (@evleaks) on Twitter, the successor to the smartwatch was rumored to run Amazon’s Alexa. The retail images confirm this information, as the box specifically mentions the availability of Alexa and built-in voice commands. It wouldn’t be surprising if the assistant could also provide personalized health information and guides, in addition to the usual weather and calendar information.

As with the special edition variant of the first generation Versa, the Versa 2 smartwatch will supposedly come with NFC support to enable Fitbit Pay as well. This will let users add their credit and/or debit cards to be able to pay directly from the watch. The device will reportedly be announced on August 25, with the release slated for September 15.
